In most cases, adapting the UI is just a simple click of a button, and then we can just let Snowdrop work its magic. Our goal is to provide the Arabic player with a great experience without having difficulties in reading and understanding the localized content.

We are constantly relying on our Arabic specialists when we consider to mirror one of the UI elements. We also noticed that you flipped the entire UI to support right-to-left text alignment. Thinking of Arabic from the start and adapting our tech to work with us helped us to achieve the high level of quality you see today. This process is part of the Internationalization stage and, as soon as the final design is reviewed and approved, the UI translation starts. The game UI is initially designed to support Left-to-right alignment and later on adapted to Arabic reading flow. Things like changing alignment or re-ordering UI elements became a basic part of how we develop our UI, so making these changes for Arabic became a simple process. We took Arabic into consideration from the early stages of development, so we were able to prepare our tech for the challenges we would face. How did you make Snowdrop support Arabic so perfectly? With that thought always in the back of our minds it ensured that our designs were always done in a way that would not cause us any problems when translated.įrom the screenshots we saw, it feels like the Arabic integration is a lot more thorough than simply changing the text and plugging in voices.

IGN ME: When we first heard that The Division is getting full Arabic support we were both ecstatic and confused. We interviewed Stefan Petrica, the Localization Manager, and Christian Savoie, the Lead UI Manager, to find out how they were able to do that. Massive did an amazing job with integrating the Arabic language into the game to ensure the best quality and make it blend perfectly with the visual atmosphere of the game. The atmosphere of the game has a very big role to play in creating a compelling environment to keep coming back to and when we first found out that the game was being localized into Arabic, our main concern was: will the Arabic game be able to preserve the same atmosphere?Ī few weeks ago, Ubisoft showed us a bunch of screenshots from the Arabic version of the game and suffice it to say our concern was laid to rest. Personally, I don’t recall ever having so much fun playing online and I can’t wait to immerse myself in a fully populated albeit dysfunctional New York. After playing The Division’s closed beta recently, we’re even more sold on the game. Ubisoft’s upcoming online RPG is practically on everyone’s radar.
